Round 1 - [Action : New Bark City] - [Audio]
[ Action : Morning ]
[ When it came to blending in with the natives, Yang certainly looked the part. The only reason she had the jacket on in the first place was because it was much colder here and she was still feeling the heat of the combat high she left behind in the arena. It was with equal parts bewilderment, confusion, and irritation that she looked out at her surroundings, her mind reeling with trying to make sense of everything she had read, or heard from that ... that delusional woman in the house she left behind.
To make matters worse, her attention was constantly divided between her goal of gathering as much information on this town as possible and the faint half-bark half-growling of the "pet" that was close to the heels of her boots at all times.
Finally, Yang stopped and crouched down, adjusting the way her new bag slung off of her shoulder. ] Look, pup. You're cute and all, and I've love to play with you, but I don't really have time for it right now. Okay? You feel me?
[ It certainly seemed to be listening, though talking to an animal and expecting it to comprehend everything she said wasn't what Yang expected at all. She was more just vocalizing her frustrations to the closest living soul.
She sighed, a thick cloud of steam in the chill winter air. ] I don't even have any treats for you. At least, I don't think I do... [ Yang thought about it a minute. There had been supplies, but nothing you should feed a dog.
Then Yang withdrew her hand from within the travel bag holding onto small red-and-white sphere. ] Hmm, actually. I never tried to open this. Looks like one of those surprise egg toy prizes. I wonder what's inside...
[ The Growlithe made a gruff, curious sound, and leaned in a bit to sniff at the ball. Yang tapped the button on it front and made as if to show the puppy the contents first. The ball grew in her hand, which surprised her and caused her to drop it. It popped open with a sound and then, after a flash of light, the dog was just... gone! Sucked right into the ball by some kind of strange energy.
Yang did not take that well. ] WHOA! What the— [ That was. Not supposed to happen. Yang's eyes were wide and she rose her feet. Time to panic! ] Ohmygod! WhatdidIdo? DidIkillit? Ididn't—! Ahh crap!!! [ She bent down to pick up the ball once more, turning it this way and that. Does she dare open it? Can someone close to her explain what just happened?!? HELP! ]
[ Audio : Open ]
[ Yang sounded much calmer when she finally made her general broadcast. It was said that this would be a good way to reach out to anyone here whether they were new like her, well informed as to how this place worked, or (hopefully) familiar voice from home. ]
Uhh, I was told I should probably introduce myself here over this network, but it feels kind of weird to do that. Not like I expect anyone to know who I am. But... [ A pause, there is some growling in the background. Eh. Here goes nothing? ]
I'm Yang Xiao Long. If the words "Remnant", "Beacon Academy", or "Vytal Festival" mean anything to you, call me back right away. It's kind of urgent.
If you're the one that brought me here, well, thanks for not letting me get to enjoy my victory first? Niiiice timing! [ A grumble. ] Jerks.
[ Yang sighed quietly. She's usually much better with people, but it's hard to feel up to making new friends right off the bat when freshly displaced. Give her a minute. She'll come around. ]
Otherwise, uh .... hi, I guess? Someone talk to me. I don't even know if I did this right.

I don't know! [ She repeated this as she faced the other girl. ] One second, I had a dog right here with me, and then I used this thing and — poof! Gone! [ Yang held out her Poké Ball, hand shaking faintly even as her fingers gripped it tight. She was avoiding the button on purpose. ]
no subject
Your dog...? [Gasp!] It disappeared? Oh no!
[Wait. The pokeball! Rakka peered at it curiously.] Umm, are you sure it's not in there?
no subject
But it ... wouldn't .......... fit.
[ She's going to feel dumb doing this isn't she? She is. Yang holds her hand out, hits the button, and then drops the ball to the ground.
As intended, it pops open and releases the Growlithe hale and whole. It looks momentarily perplexed, but is soon assuming a defensive stance toward the person that was close to its new Trainer. ] Of course! Why didn't I think of that? It's just like Zwei.
[ Now she's laughing. What a dummy she was being. ]
no subject
[Nope. Rakka hasn't reached a level of zen yet that would prepare her for a Pokemon suddenly popping out of its ball. Yeah she's jumping a little. It looks like a dog, but what if it can fly or something?
Of course, as soon as she does hop a little, she feels embarrassed. But at least Yang seemed happy?]
Um, yeah.... Who's Zwei? [Did she miss something?]
no subject
[ It's far too easy now to dismiss what just happened as "normal", but there we have it. She looked up at the girl from her crouched position. ] Hope I didn't startle you too bad. This is all kind of weird to me, too. [ She held up a hand. ] By the way, I'm Yang!
no subject
[Just a little. really.]
...Ah! W-Wait, did you say you send it in the mail?
[But envelopes aren't big enough for that!!]
no subject
Yep! Usually a mail tube, about this big. [ It wasn't a large pantomime; certainly long enough for a dog but definitely not thick enough. Not for a corgi anyway. ]
no subject
T-that doesn't seem very big. [Must be a small dog?] And, uh, wouldn't it hurt itself?
no subject
[ But enough about that. Yang adjusts her beret. ] You said something a sec ago. About being a... what's it... "Haibane"?
no subject
O-oh, yes. I'm a Haibane, or, at least I was. When I woke up here, I think I turned completely Human.
no subject
[ Yang just blinked several times. ]
Wait.
[ She looked the girl up and down a couple of times. Looked normal enough. Sounded normal enough.
Was not laying on the floor while saying 'hi' like it was the thing to do...]What?
no subject
[Rakka blinks back, several times. Blink, blink, blink-Oh.]
Umm, I'm not actually a Human? I'm supposed to be a Haibane.
no subject
Still doesn't tell me what a "haibane" is, though. [ Which is really what she was curious about. There's no judgement in her tone; it's purely curiosity to clear up her confusion on the terminology. ]
no subject
Well, Haibane look a lot like Humans do! But we're still different.
[....She still hasn't explained. hmm.]
Haibane are supposed to have wings, for starters. See?
[Not waiting for an answer, Rakka spun around, giving Yang a look at her back... and the long slits sewn into the back of her jacket. Obviously, there's nothing there now.]
no subject
I'm sorry. [ She frowned. Giving Rakka the benefit of the doubt here, she felt like she saw something she shouldn't have just now. ] Doesn't it feel... weird, to have those missing?
[ Her gauntlets are gone, and she wore them nearly constantly when not asleep, or in class, so she could somewhat relate to a part of her being absent. ]
no subject
That said, she gave Yang a slight smile that dipped away as she asked about it.] Uh... yes, it does. It's different but...
[depressing]
Easier?
no subject
That's got to be letting the cold air in, though. [ Big Sister Mode: Activate. ] Did ... the lady give you another jacket? In your bag, maybe?
no subject
I-I think she did, [Rubbing her hands she pulls out her bag to dig through for possibly the thousandth time today] It should be... yes, here it is!
[And Rakka promptly pulls out this... blue puffball of a jacket. It's warm... at least, but who's smart idea was it to not put long sleeves on it. We just don't know.]
no subject
Hmm, here. I've got something you can have. [ She dug into her own jacket and pulls out a pair of black gloves. They're brand new, and might be a tad big, but the lining is soft and they extend well past the wrist with a strap to hold them on.
Yang offered them to Rakka. ] Already got my own, so I won't be needing these.
no subject
W-what? You mean it?
[Her eyes fell on the gloves; they... they are a bit big for the smaller Rakka, but they looked especially warm. and... And Rakka didn't have gloves herself...
Absentmindedly, she reached out with both hands to accept Yang's offering.]
I mean, t-thank you...
no subject
Yeah, sure! Don't mention it. [ Once her hands were empty, Yang could wiggle her bare fingertips a little. ] They kinda cramp my style anyhow.
no subject
They fit like... uh.
[Wait no, she can't make that pun. Shoot.]
no subject
[ She took a look around, the telltale signs of snow here that shows it would have been a couple of days or more since the last time it had fallen. That was weird to her, having not yet reached autumn back home. ]
You know, the leaves were not even changing colors yet back home.... but I don't feel like I've been sleeping for months. [ Yang looked back to Rakka. ] What about you? Any of this look right to you?
no subject
[For now, she could take a small bit of comfort in not feeling the chill as much as she was. Even still, there was a sense of familiarity to it all.]
Huh? Oh, hmm... [She moves her boots, looking down to watch the snow crunch beneath her feet.] Everything looks the same to me. Uh, almost. In the place where I'm from, we were just getting ready for spring to arrive.
no subject
Looks like you'll be in for a bit of a longer winter. [ She has zero control over that, but she can still sound apologetic for it. ] Do you want to try and find someplace to get out of this cold? That ... lady locked me out, but there has to be somewhere to find shelter.
