Round 1 - [Action : New Bark City] - [Audio]

[ Action : Morning ]
[ When it came to blending in with the natives, Yang certainly looked the part. The only reason she had the jacket on in the first place was because it was much colder here and she was still feeling the heat of the combat high she left behind in the arena. It was with equal parts bewilderment, confusion, and irritation that she looked out at her surroundings, her mind reeling with trying to make sense of everything she had read, or heard from that ... that delusional woman in the house she left behind.

To make matters worse, her attention was constantly divided between her goal of gathering as much information on this town as possible and the faint half-bark half-growling of the "pet" that was close to the heels of her boots at all times.

Finally, Yang stopped and crouched down, adjusting the way her new bag slung off of her shoulder. ] Look, pup. You're cute and all, and I've love to play with you, but I don't really have time for it right now. Okay? You feel me?

[ It certainly seemed to be listening, though talking to an animal and expecting it to comprehend everything she said wasn't what Yang expected at all. She was more just vocalizing her frustrations to the closest living soul.

She sighed, a thick cloud of steam in the chill winter air. ] I don't even have any treats for you. At least, I don't think I do... [ Yang thought about it a minute. There had been supplies, but nothing you should feed a dog.

Then Yang withdrew her hand from within the travel bag holding onto small red-and-white sphere. ] Hmm, actually. I never tried to open this. Looks like one of those surprise egg toy prizes. I wonder what's inside...

[ The Growlithe made a gruff, curious sound, and leaned in a bit to sniff at the ball. Yang tapped the button on it front and made as if to show the puppy the contents first. The ball grew in her hand, which surprised her and caused her to drop it. It popped open with a sound and then, after a flash of light, the dog was just... gone! Sucked right into the ball by some kind of strange energy.

Yang did not take that well. ] WHOA! What the— [ That was. Not supposed to happen. Yang's eyes were wide and she rose her feet. Time to panic! ] Ohmygod! WhatdidIdo? DidIkillit? Ididn't—! Ahh crap!!! [ She bent down to pick up the ball once more, turning it this way and that. Does she dare open it? Can someone close to her explain what just happened?!? HELP! ]

[ Audio : Open ]
[ Yang sounded much calmer when she finally made her general broadcast. It was said that this would be a good way to reach out to anyone here whether they were new like her, well informed as to how this place worked, or (hopefully) familiar voice from home. ]

Uhh, I was told I should probably introduce myself here over this network, but it feels kind of weird to do that. Not like I expect anyone to know who I am. But... [ A pause, there is some growling in the background. Eh. Here goes nothing? ]

I'm Yang Xiao Long. If the words "Remnant", "Beacon Academy", or "Vytal Festival" mean anything to you, call me back right away. It's kind of urgent.

If you're the one that brought me here, well, thanks for not letting me get to enjoy my victory first? Niiiice timing! [ A grumble. ] Jerks.

[ Yang sighed quietly. She's usually much better with people, but it's hard to feel up to making new friends right off the bat when freshly displaced. Give her a minute. She'll come around. ]

Otherwise, uh .... hi, I guess? Someone talk to me. I don't even know if I did this right.

[ Now there's a sight for sore eyes — though it's only been, what, an hour or two since she last saw her? She cannot help but interject with a smile and a "Weiss!" even if she does stop to listen to the rest. ]

Uh, whoa, hang on there. Teleport? Did they split us up before we woke up? [ Yang looked around her. She scratched under her beret. ]

I... yeah. That's what this town's called. How'd you know that?

I think we must have been split up somehow. Ruby and I woke up in New Bark at about the same time, and it's been about a day since that happened. Penny had been here for a few months, and a friend of hers helped us out. She has a Pokémon - the little creatures in the red-and-white balls - that can teleport things and people.

I think the big things you need to know are that time apparently freezes back home, time acts really strangely here, and things should be okay till we get back.

[ Yang made a face. It would have been rude of her to dismiss Weiss's information for fantasy, but that was a lot to swallow and it sounded even more fantastical than what little she's learned so far.

She takes a deep breath. ] Okay.

I know Mercury didn't hit me this hard. I mean, it definitely sounds like you, so I don't think I'm having some kind of concussion-addled dream.

But everything you just said sounds pretty freaking crazy.

Yeah. It does. I'll be the first one to admit that.

[She takes a deep breath of her own.]

No, you didn't get hit nearly hard enough to get a concussion. It is a lot to take in.

Sounds like you had enough time to grasp the gist of it. That's good enough by me. [ She trusted Weiss. Even if things sounded far out, that would hold her over for the meantime. ]

But you said Penny's been here for months — that just doesn't seem physically possible.

It really doesn't, especially given what happened. Time is incredibly strange here, it seems like.

[Not that she's going to mention what happened to Penny over the Gear, but.]

If we arrived this close together, I've got to wonder if Blake's on her way — or here and just hiding. [ Ninja, etc. ] Is anyone from Penny's team here? Or anyone else from home that you know about?

If Blake's here, she's doing a really good job of hiding. I don't think she would go that long without contacting her team. Maybe she would have before, but not now.

I haven't heard from anyone else from home.

[yanginthere]

...good point.

Still. I ended up with a dog. That'd make her at least a little nervous. [ Why? We just don't know. Not like she's ACTUALLY a cat. ]

Anyway, you're right. If she was here she'd say something. Same if she shows up later. At least I can be happy to have people here that I can trust, like you. [ If she had to deal with this alone she'd be more of a mess herself. ]

You and Ruby both ended up with dogs, actually. Someone has a sense of humor.

[That actually gets a laugh out of Weiss.]

Exactly. She would try to contact us as soon as she could.

I'm glad that there are - good - familiar faces here, too. I'm still going to worry about home, but not quite as much, if that makes any sense?

Heh! If we get back, don't tell Zwei. He'll probably get jealous.

[ Provided any of them actually remember any of this. Who knows. Yang isn't thinking too hard on it. ]

I know what you mean, though. We'll figure something out, like we always manage to. [ Even if those plans ended up being 80% Dumb Luck. ]

[That gets another laugh.]

Even if we do manage to figure it out just soon enough that we get away by the skin of our teeth.

[ She grinned. Seems that Weiss was in a decent enough mood, now. ] They may have left us unarmed, but I'm not getting the feeling that this is actually a dangerous place. People are way too calm about all the strange creatures around, and this town doesn't even have anything remotely resembling fortification.

[ Which is super, super weird, after having studied what frontier towns and supply depots are like, and after what they learned about Mountain Glen. ]

I think that the strange creatures are the defense. That's the one thing that still makes me uncomfortable. No Semblance, no weapons, no fortification...but nobody seems to think it's needed, or even missing.

[yanginthere]

[ Yang scratches her head again, frowning. ] I'm going to run out of ways to call this place "weird".

[ These people wouldn't survive a day on Remnant. Yang's not so sure she'll survive here for too long without getting restless, herself. ]

We both are, trust me. At least I'm not resorting to using curse words as modifiers for the word 'weird'.

[...well, maybe a few of them could, but most of them? Nope.]

...Heh. Now that would be something else. [ Encouraging? No, certainly not. Though it does amuse Yang to think of Weiss uttering a single syllable more explicit than "darn" or "heck". ]

[ Yang waved her hand. ] Yeah, I'd probably think you were replaced with, like, an evil twin or something if you started talking like that.

[ She squinted her eyes. Yes, there was Winter, but— ] You don't have an evil twin, do you?

If I started to use that kind of language, I would definitely have something wrong with me.

All right. Then if I ever hear those words coming out of your mouth, I'll just carry you to the nearest doctor for a check-up. [ Literally carrying, if she has to.

Also that may be the most Team Mom thing she's ever said, holy shit. ]
