Round 2 - Nyang Katt: Pro Hater -- I mean, Skater

[ (A) Audio : Friday 2/26 ]
Okay so, like, I'm not super into my job but it's not bad. [ Oh, I'm sorry, was there a preamble? Ain't nobody got time for that. Especially not this hyperactive sounding girl. Yang was always brimming with energy, that much isn't new, and it certainly sounds like Yang right now ... if not for a shift in her tone making her sound either entitled, snarky, overly excited, or extremely bored. She turned her attitude around on a dime, never sitting for too long on just one emotion. ]

The problem is that, like, I've got all this energy and nothing really to do with it? Fighting is boring without our Auras, and I can only stand training Pokémon so many hours of the day, y'know?

[ She giggled. ] What I really wanna do, though, is party hard!

Anyone in Goldenrod with ideas on where a girl could get in on that kind of action? If you're cool, we could even hang out or whateverrr~!

[ (B) Action : Friday 2/26 ]

[ Just because she was complaining about a lack of outlets for her energy, it didn't mean that she had not tried to do everything possible to keep herself entertained. When not at her temp job, Yang was out about the town in her trainer uniform, the most obvious changes to it being that she has her hair tied back and down in a pair of massive ponytails (it's hard to contain dat mane), and on her feet she's got a pair of snazzy new roller skates.

Yang is flitting about the city with her radio blasting some of that upbeat techno or dance music as she was grinding along guard rails or the tops of benches (whether they are occupied or not), weaving in through the crowds (successfully or not), and overall is unable to sit still for more than two seconds. She's got a mischievous glint in her eyes as they look out from behind a pair of pink heart-shaped lenses, and when she isn't yammering on, she's popping bubblegum. Occasionally she has a pair of colored plastic rings with her that she tosses into the air for her Murkrow or Pidgeotto to catch as they swoop down around her.

If something or someone catches her eye, she may just loop around them to get their attention in return, or call out: ] Hey, you! I love your {hair / outfit / Pokémon}! [ Of course, depending on who or what she saw, that could just as easily be followed up with a snarky, back-handed comment. There is no warning for this. ]

[ (C) Video : Saturday 2/27 ]

[ Today, Yang's in her room, seated on the carpet and dressed down to shorts and a tank top. She isn't concerned with people seeing the green-and-yellow bruises she was sporting thanks to last week's antics. No, the more recent damage was largely to her ego, which has left her frowning thoughtfully at the camera. With her hands in her lap, she lazily rolled a Pokéball back and forth. ]

Ooookay. Where do I even start with this? [ Besides looking like Hell, Yang also waffled between feeling guilty for the previous day's antics, and angry that things happened the way they did. ] Is this sort of thing normal around here? Just ... waking up one day and acting all different? This is the second time and — I gotta say? I'm not a fan.

[ Yang sighed. ] For what it's worth, I wanna say I'm sorry to anyone that talked to me yesterday. That was definitely nothing like me! I was acting like a bi— [ Oops. Language. ] B-iiiit of a. Jerk. [ She taunted two NPC trainers to tears. "Jerk" was an understatement. Yang knowing whose attitude that side of her was influenced by was icing on the disaster cake that is her life right now. ]

Anyway. Uh. Does anyone have experience with apologizing to a Pokémon? I'm pretty sure Dusty — my Pidgeotto — is mad at me thanks to all this. [ Yang stopped rolling the 'ball around and brought it up before her frowning face. So much for encouraging loyalty in her "crew"... ]

((OOC: if you want to skip straight to the fallout portion and want to handwave some kind of negative interaction beforehand, hit me up so we can hash out details! otherwise I'll roll with w/e for starters. ETA 3/5 ponytail references because I'm picky like that! >.>; ))

Like, normally I'd be all for that, buuuut.... [ There's an amused huff at the thought of hanging out more with the traveling group. ]

I mean, don't get me wrong! They're cool, I guess, but we've been together for sooo long that I'm kinda looking for something new?

...Huh? [A breathy, almost confused tone takes her voice.]

Um. Okay, that's...I mean, isn't it better to do something with people you already know instead of...perfect strangers? I know, like...I have way more fun with my friends, so...

Hmmm, here we can't really get into the same kind of super crazy awesome adventures as we could back home. And without that it's kind of just, like, same-y, being around them all time.

[ Sick truths aside, Yang giggled. ] Besides! Variety is the Dust of life, don't you know that?

The...dust of life? Wouldn't that make it a bad thing, all boring and...dusty?

Nnnnno! Not dusty, like, your name or anything.

Dust! Capital "D", Dust, you know? [ No, of course she doesn't know, Yang. ] It's only the best. thing. everrr! And this world has NOTHING like it. [ Sadface. :( ]

Like my...? [Blink. Well that's a way to put it? Oh well, Ashley just presses on.]

I can genuinely say I don't know what you're talking about. We don't have that in my world. What is it, like...a, um...recreational...substance...?

[ Yang let out a bubbly sort of laugh, but it's entirely at Ash's expense. Poor, misguided non-Remnant people. ] No, silly! You don't do that with it...

We use it for all sorts of stuff. Charging up weapons, running cars, and powering up lights.

You can burn things up, freeze stuff, shock people...

Basically, humanity would be super doomed without it.

[Just the way Yang's talking is leaving a bad taste in her mouth. It feels less like she's learning something new and more like she's being made fun of.]

O-oh. So...it's your fuel, your electricity and oil and all that. [And apparently also able to be weaponized? Eesh.] That...makes sense. So you're saying, it's better to try something new instead of hang around the same people?

[ Yep! Those guns she was talking about before are a whole lot scarier now. ]

Yeah! Now you're getting it. See? I knew you were pretty smart. For someone not from Remnant, anyway, picking this stuff isn't easy. [ That was. mostly. a compliment. ]

[Oh Ashley is not thinking about that, not thinking about that, not thinking about that...]

Uh. Yes, well, I've been told I'm good at this kind of thing. Learning, understanding. Thank you.

It's a shame I can't, like, show you footage from the Vytal Festival tournament matches. I'm not sure why they decided to have something like that at a time we're supposed to be celebrating peace ... but I'm not gonna pass up the chance to run circles around the teams from other schools, and really whoop some butt.

[ A giggle. ] All in good fun, of course! I was really hot stuff in all my matches. [ No modesty at all. ]

That...is kind of weird, uh- but if that's something you enjoy I'm glad you got to...?

[Clears throat; this whole conversation just feels weird and strange and completely off but she can't put her finger on just what it is.]

You- did you win the...tournament?

Pfft, I wish!

I mean, I was doing pretty good, but I wasn't done with the finals left before these losers dropped me here in happy-fun-animal-land. Talk about a total bummerrrr. [ One can practically hear her eyes rolling. ]

It's not that bad... [Mumbling.]

And...that's why you want excitement outside your friends now? Because you couldn't finish your fight? Right...?

...yeah, probably! [ She honestly had to think about it. Then Yang gave a little laugh. ] I mean, it's not like I thought I'd have a shot at beating the "Invincible Girl" in the finals! Pyrrha Nikos is hot stuff.

Going toe-to-toe with a four-time regional champion like her would've been totally worth it~!

[uhhhhh]

Oh. That...could've gotten interesting. Fighting someone who you're- I mean, are you...? Not like it's any of my business, but just, it sounded like you meant...

[ Thankfully there is no seeing the look on Yang's face as she's asked that question. It doesn't take much to put two-and-two together with how Ash trailed off, either. ]

Ahah, that's a good one! No way would someone like Pyrrha have time to party with someone like me. After the tournament she'd be way~ too busy posing for the media and signing autographs and junk like that. [ A small sigh. ] Too bad...

You seem pretty, uh...strong and stuff too? [Rea...ssures....] But, if she's like, a real big deal celebrity, then, that might be...difficult, probably.

[ Yang giggled. ] Gee, thanks, Ash!

But ... yeah, like, we're in totally different leagues. She seems all down-to-earth when you talk to her, and I think that she's trying to downplay how cool and popular she is, but just — seeing her in the ring. Ugh! [ That was more a sound of envy than disgust. ] One time, she single-handedly took out and entire team at our school all on her own without them getting a good shot in on her... [ Uh-oh, Ash, you got her started on the Pyrrha Hype Train and the next station is like two minutes away better buckle in. ]

I mean, four buff dudes ganged up on her and she looked like she was having so much fun just throwing them around like ragdolls, but they're bullies you know so they really deserved it, especially for the way they messed with her team leader Jaune, I mean she's the kind of person whose friends you just do. not. mess with, so they asked for it anD BOY did they get what they had coming to them! Did I mention she looked good doing it? I mean Pyrrha usually looks flawless, it's kind of frustrating because you have to look at a girl like her and think "I bet she wakes up like that, there's no WAY she wakes up like that though!" but there she is every morning all "hello~!" and rocking the fiery locks with the rest of her armor so you'd think her Semblance had to do with fire, but you'd be wrong and I bet that's where those idiots underestimated her, haha~

[ Deep breath, a musical note. ] My point is it was super crazy awesome~♥!!

W-wow. She, uh, sounds pretty impressive. Aaand you sound...pretty smitten. [Hesi...tantly...] You know, if...you're really into her, you... I mean, if you'd regret not telling her... [A quiet little awkward laugh.] You should. You should really tell her, if you can.

[ CUE NERVOUS BISEXUAL LAUGHTER ] Oh! Oh, hahaha, there's—

Wh—

[ A rustle of noise, and her voice is muffled. ] Do whatever you like, I'm trying to have a conversation here?? — I know, I'm — Whoooooa!!

[ There is a rush of wind, like either a tornado started up around her, or the device had been thrown a great distance very fast. Then Yang's back, closer to the receiver, coughing. ]

Oh. My. Dust, will you look at this mess? I'm covered! When I called you a dusty old crow I didn't mean you should take it literally!!

[ More coughing. Sorry Ash, she needs a minute. ]

[A little gasp.] U- uh, Yang? What happened, are you okay?

Ugh. I'm just fiiine!

I dunno why I thought I'd be a good fit for birds, anyhow...

[ A comment over her shoulder. ] You wanna keep that overkill a little farther away from me next time? You're totally gonna mess up my hair!

We're supposed to get a flying-type anyway...

[A moment, she bites her lip.]

Maybe you should go check on him? If he's acting out... That's usually how animals work, right?

[Deflecting from the previous conversation, it seems.]

Like, she is just gonna go back in her little ball if she keeps this up~!

[ There was an offended squawk in the background. ]

—okay, you know what? I'm gonna have to go and see why my fluffy friend here is being such a fussy totally-not-an-oversized-pigeon. I'll hit you up later, okay? [ Someone gets to go time-out and that has successfully distracted Yang from pursuing that topic further; probably to their mutual benefit. ]
