Round 3 - Team Hairbeast Problems

[ Anyone tuning in to Yang's transmission today is in for a fluffy time. Literally. She is currently sitting on her knees between three largish Pokémon, that all barely fit in the already wide shot. Her proud Pyroar sits on all fours to one side, regarding the antics of the rather playful Arcanine who's enjoying Yang rubbing her tummy, and a majestic Ninetales is sitting with her back to the camera while Yang attempts to use the brush in her main hand to smooth out the post-washing curls. It's not working too well. ]

Okay, real talk! Does anyone have as much difficulty with grooming as I do with my crew? I mean, just look at them! [ A wide gesture, smiling and laughing as she does so. ] Do you have any idea how many brushes and combs I've gone through since I got here? I'm pretty sure I've spent less on evolution stones...

[ Of course, being the proud owner of a magnificent blond mane herself, she isn't about to let her Pokémon go with anything but the best in pet hair care. Yang resumes the brushing, much to the satisfaction of the Ninetales, who looks a little sleepy. ] Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun, but if anyone can recommend any tips or good places to shop for sturdier tools, I'm all ears.

[ Speaking of ears, she pauses briefly in scratching Rowdy's stomach to rub behind her own ear. ] —and can someone with a Joltik tell me if this kind of behavior is normal for them? I don't mind it exactly, but it's hard to keep track of her when she gets like this.

[ What is Yang talking about? Well, when she turns to show the back of her head to the camera, if one squints, it may be possible to see one very cheerful Joltik making itself cozy in the long wavy strands of Yang's substantial hairdo. Like she's building a nest for herself, almost... ]

And that seems pretty normal in my experience! Before Amber evolved, she'd nest in my scarves all the time. Sometimes she'll still do it with blankets and stuff, if I leave her alone for a while.

[ Yang turned in place and gave Penny a smile. ] Thanks, again. Jolty's adorable, even if she'd rather nest up there than on my fluffier Pokémon...

No, thank you! I'm just glad the babies all went to good homes.

[And Karkat. But she at least trusts that he'll take good care of his Pokémon, as abrasive as he can be with people.]

And that just means she likes you best. You're kind of like her mother, right?

[ It's a good thing they were on the topic of small beastly children, else Yang might have taken an odd turn in her attitude right then. As such, her smile doesn't falter. ] You could look at it like that.


[ She reached back over her shoulder and made a sound with her fingernails together, trying to get Jolty's attention. ] Right now all I feel like is a nest.

[That's probably for the best. Penny's worldview is already getting enough of a workout from Karkat, it's not ready for Raven "Mother of the Year" Branwen.]

A very comfortable nest, I'm sure, with all the work you put into your hair!

—and I have been noticing less frizz lately. That's a good side effect if ever there was one.

And- I can't offer advice on grooming the rest of your team. Flynn's the only one that really needs brushing.

I do go through quite a LOT of Steel-type polish, though.

...but I've seen a bunch of Pokemon who like nesting in long hair. Hell, Whisper still does that to Sion, even after evolving into Altaria.

[ Her eyes are fixed on the rather adorable sight. Yang had never thought of dressing her crew up... ]

Heh, is an Altaria a lot bigger than a Joltik?

[Ryner rarely does himself, but hey, when they fall in love with an accessory on their own...]

Way bigger. ...Well, I mean, there aren't many smaller than Joltik, but Whisper's at least half Sion's height.

Hah! That's comical. [ A sidelong glance. ] Of course that reminds me that Jolty's going to be a bit bigger when she evolves ... if I let her. [ Yang scratches her cheek. ] Is it weird to keep them in the original stage on purpose just because of the cute factor?

Ahh, well, I'm not the one to ask, really, since I kind of let them evolve or not as they want... But I have a few who've chosen not to, and I kind of suspect that Rose does it to stay small and cute, so.

Do you ever factor in what that means, like, from a tactical standpoint?

I've found that the wood brushes sold in Celadon's Department Store last quite long, no matter which species they're used on. Then again, I usually buy a dozen and let my Tangrowth use them all at once. That spreads the wear and tear out.

Hmm I carry around spares, but with all the traveling we've been doing it's got to be quality over quantity.

[ Yang angled her head back, with Jolty taking that moment to burrow out of sight. ] I don't remember seeing Celedon on the map...

Ah, you'll need to look at Kanto's map, if you want to find it. And considering the time it might take you to reach it, even with the best quality you'd still need quantity. A very large quantity.

—oh! Right! I keep forgetting there's a lot more to this place. I'm used to more airships, less boats.

They've no airships at all, I'm sorry to say. They allowed us to travel aboard airplanes, once, but we had no opportunity to see how they work or to request their regular use.

Air...planes? [ Sounds fake to her but okay. ] Huh. Yeah, they don't like to give us a lot of travel options do they? I've seen trains, but no cars or motorcycles. Bums me out sometimes but, hey, the scenery's nice at least?

just look for the l'aurora beam kids brand or something
