[Weiss will just follow, shutting the door.]

Did you even read this? There was talk about hurting kids from whoever it was that answered this. That's not okay, that's awful.

What? No. Let me see.

[ Yang holds out her hand to accept the 'Gear and then reads it for herself. Her eyes are a little wide. ]

...okay, I hope they're overreacting. [ She hands the device back. ] I've never heard of any dangers of pokemon actually attacking people unless it's in the wild and they're being threatened. I'm sure it's fine.

It didn't sound like it was a joke, or an overreaction. I'm not meeting up with this person because I don't want them following me back here, because you never know.

...and you haven't gotten pecked by an angry Piplup, so...

Ehh, it's kind of hard to tell through text though, but... if it didn't work out, it didn't work out. Better safe than sorry. [ Yang shrugged her shoulder casually, but she can't help but feel disappointed at her plan backfiring. ] Guess it was worth a shot.

It's not that hard to tell through text.

[There's something in Weiss' voice that's a bit strained. She's seen and heard threats before, so she's naturally a little more concerned.]

I'm not - well, I was mad, but not now. Just ask me before doing anything like that again?

[ Yang is just trying to be optimistic, as usual. This world is so peaceful, but even it has to have its own set of rules and safeguards against something like a sentient lawnmower chasing down children, right? She has to believe that or else live in constant unease around machines. It'd make it hard to hold down any kind of job here...

Putting that aside for the moment, Yang looked surprised at what Weiss had to say next. ] Were you made because of what I did, or because of how it turned out? Because I like to think I did a pretty good job with that profile.

[ A weird thing to be proud of, but there it was. For Yang it was an exercise in painting her teammate in as accurate of a light as possible. She could have gone over the top, of course, but that would have ruined the intended effect. She wouldn't want that cute face of Weiss's all red and puffed up with anger directed at her.

...huh. That was a weird thought. ]

I started out being mad over the whole thing, but that changed to being mad about how it turned out. That's faded a lot, too.

[She turns her head, blushing a little. That's weird, for her.]

...you did, actually.

[ And just like that, Yang's concern melted away. Strange, perhaps, but then again she always did flip-flop pretty quickly between emotional states. ]

You mean it? [ This is the worst time to fish for praise but she doesn't care. ]

I do mean that. If - and that is a huge if - I ever felt the need to actually answer something like that, I don't know if I would have answered all that differently.

[Maybe it's a bad time, but it's working.]

Well. [ That was unexpectedly touching. Yang smiled softly, for a brief moment. ] Now I'm kind of bummed out that it didn't go as I planned. I just wanted you to have a good time ... you know that, right?

[ She cocked her head to the side, eyes focused on Weiss's face for a reaction. Her lips, specifically, for some reason. Yang convinced herself it's because she wanted to both see and hear Weiss's affirmation. To see her smile and laugh this whole thing off. ]

It wasn't your fault that things didn't go all right. You didn't know.

[When had she taken a step closer? Weiss wasn't entirely sure about that, nor was she quite sure why she had tilted her head.]

I know you meant well.

I was hoping to have something more to show than just "it's the thought that counts". [ She said with a wide-armed shrug. Yang settled her hands on her own hips, having shifted a bit closer herself. ]

It still caused you some grief. I'm sorry about that. [ Yang chewed on her bottom lip as she dwelt on that for a moment. ] I should find some way to make it up to you.

Things happen. You wouldn't have done anything like that purposely.

[Between the sudden closeness and the way Yang's biting her lip, there's a sudden thought, and it's enough to make Weiss blush again. She brings a hand up, tapping at her chin.]

...you don't have to, but...

Nah. [ She scratches at her cheek. ] Well... maybe half a year ago I would have. Just to see what would happen. [ Yang's feeling pretty honest about things at the moment. It's just to help defuse the tension further, because though Weiss isn't mad she does still feel something in the air that wasn't there a minute ago when she was relaxing. ]

Yeah? [ Seems to her that Weiss has something on her mind. ] Name it.

And you would have heard me yelling at you all the way in Atlas, if you had.

[That's enough to make her laugh, at least enough to dispel a little of that tension. Only a little, though.]

I -

[Naming it isn't going to work; she's direct in a lot of things, but words aren't working. Actions are different, though.

A second later, she's on tiptoe, planting a kiss on Yang's lips.]

- that.

[ Yang chuckled at the thought of actually hearing Weiss yelling from such a long distance, because if she had to pick any one person at this school who was capable of such a hyperbolic feat, it would have been her.

...okay. Jaune, too...

Anyway, her mind's not there, it's here in the moment upon picking up on Weiss's proximity. Part of her knows what's coming, is tingling with anticipation, and the other half is just so oblivious because there's no way in a million years that she'd end up even briefly touching lips with the young heiress to the Schnee family legacy. There's just no way that just happened what the heck!?!

Congratulations, Weiss. You managed to stun your teammate into silence. ]

[ For all of two seconds, anyway. ]

Mm. You mean— [ Yang has no idea where her friend's drive originated, nor where her own impulse stemmed from. She cannot excuse it as just tit-for-tat in response to Weiss's own actions. An eye for an eye, kiss for a kiss? That isn't how things worked... but that's exactly what she was doing anyway, leaning down to press their lips together a second time. Just a few beats longer, just a bit more insistently than Weiss had done so to her two seconds ago. ] —that?

[ The sudden realization of what they had just done will no doubt catch up to them in a moment. Probably. Hopefully...? ]

Yes. Just like --

[It's really tempting to just close that distance again, and that's exactly what Weiss starts to do.]

[...but then she comes to her senses, taking a big step back and blushing furiously.]

I'm - I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. I didn't - it's not like I -

[- and then she starts backing up towards the door, fully intending to just leave without finishing her sentence.]

[ Yang has so many questions right there. Interspersed with the more pressing ones ("What just happened?" "Did she just do that or did I just do that?") were unimportant, conflicting thoughts ("That felt really good." "Does she use chapstick, or was that just ...?")

—everything comes to a neck-twisting, screeching halt when she notices Weiss's own demeanor take a turn for the embarrassed. Yang doesn't go flush often, or easily, but even she's feeling a different kind of heat flooding her face just then. And it's tying up her tongue, to boot. ]

Um. Wait. Weiss, I — I mean, I can explain? [ She is 0% sure that she can explain anything of the last like half a minute. Or was it longer? Oh god hopefully it wasn't longer that would be even MORE to explain which she would have LESS confidence in doing.

Yang's also reaching out toward Weiss but doesn't actually move to get between her and the door. ]

[Weiss has a few of those same questions ("What did I just do?", "What came over me?", and "Why did I stop myself that last time?" to name a few) herself, the embarrassment is drowning them out.

Yang will manage to catch her hand, and that makes her stop and turn around.]

I don't know what there is to explain, it's not like we normally have discussions that turn into kissing. I don't even know what - I mean, it's not like it was a bad thing, but -

[She laughs nervously.]

[ —oh, she caught her? Great!

Not great.

Yang had no plan for what to do or so when that happened so, for the moment, she just sort of holds Weiss's hand tightly and averts her gaze entirely. Hey, the ceilings in this room aren't half bad...? ]

Nnnno, not ever. There's. A lot of other things that go on. But not. That.

[ God her palms feel sweaty and gross. Was that Weiss's doing, or her own? She can't tell but she ends up pulling it back anyway to wipe it against her side, off on her sleeping shirt, but instead just ends up sort of... holding it against herself.

You know it would be really great if her heart could stop hammering away in her ears right about now. Yang hasn't felt any true surge of anything resembling an adrenaline high since her arrival here, save for the initial fear of where she ended up, and the occasional enthusiastic Pokémon battle during their travel time. Now was a really poor time for her body to get itself all worked up over what was probably nothing.

Suddenly aware of the fact she had licked her lips, she brought her hand up to cover her mouth and mumbled something against the palm, her eyes squeezed shut. Snap out of it, Xiao Long!! ]

[The floors are really great, too, and that's what Weiss focuses on. She doesn't quite register it when she gives Yang's hand a squeeze, not until her friend takes that hand away.]

I mean, it would be a little awkward if we couldn't hold a conversation without - yeah. That.

[After that, she instinctively folds her arms over herself. She's not sure if that's supposed to be defensive or comforting to her. A bit of both, maybe.

It's a long moment before she tears her eyes from the pattern of the carpet and looks up, and even then, she focuses on a point to Yang's right.]

- are you okay? Or is that a profoundly stupid question?

[ It's their turn to exchange the briefest of glances as Yang turns her interest toward the handle on the door behind Weiss, to her side. Definitely a good idea they didn't have this discussion in the hall.

After both of Weiss's statements, Yang lets out two tiny tufts of dry laughter. ] Haah.

...hah, uhhm. [ There should probably be an apology in there somewhere, again, but honestly? She doesn't feel too sorry. She had that impulse, and acted on it, and for whatever reason Weiss had done the same. And. Technically, Weiss had started it. So, there???

Assigning blame for that just seemed to be a silly notion entirely. It made her feel momentarily like she was a kid. "She touched me first!" "She's on my side of the room again!"

The thought brings with it a chuckle. Yang drops her hand, to reveal a lopsided smile. ] I'm sorry for, uh. Morning mouth.

[That's one of the last things Weiss was expecting to hear, and it's enough to make her laugh. She fully intended to apologize and leave, but instead, she manages an embarrassed smile.

Nobody had seen anything, and if this is the worst thing that happens all week, she's all right with it.]
